Program Description
Spend a day with Mike Price, M.Photog.Cr., as he takes attendees on a journey through the 6 S’s of Business Headshot Portraiture: Setup, Selling, Shooting, Showing, Styling, and Sending. Attendees will learn how to organize their headshot business offerings, select equipment and lighting that fits their style, develop an effective workflow, and price for profit. This is a balance of business acumen dealing with corporate clientele coupled with efficient workflow to quickly complete projects resulting in target margin.
After all, this IS a business.
This is a hand's-on experience, so bring cameras, portrait lenses (85mm or 70-200mm zoom), computers with Photoshop, and plenty of paper for notes and exercises.
With any additional time left in the day, He will be doing bonus lecture content on how he has expanded his business portrait work to include interior and architectural photography for his clients as well as a sprinkling of workflow efficiencies to help reduce the time you spend processing your images.
Mike has been able to successfully expand headshot clients into architectural work and vice versa. Clients already know how to spend money with us one way, let’s give me more ways to use us for their photography needs.
BIO:
Mike Price M.Photog.Cr. turned his part-time hobby into a full-time business 17 years ago. Prior to expanding Fairfield Photography into a full-time career, Mike worked in Corporate America for over 25 years in various IT leadership roles in project management, consulting, and sales. Since making that transition, Mike has worked with clients in senior/family portraiture as well as photographing sports team and individual images, weddings, action sports, equestrian competitions, and community events. Most recently, Mike has moved most of his work to corporate portraiture and architectural photography commercial clients that now lets him leverage his corporate experience and work more frequently on an 8-5, Monday through Friday schedule doing the work that brings him joy.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Miami University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Franklin University. Based in Pickerington Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, Mike is an active member of the Professional Photographers of America, with Master Photographer and Photographic Craftsman degrees. He has his FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and is a Past Board Member of the Professional Photographers of Ohio (PPO) and is a two-time Past-President of the Professional Photographers of Central Ohio (PPCO). He has been awarded the PPO Distinguished Service Award, PPO President’s Award, and the PPO Above and Beyond Award. He was awarded the PPCO President’s Award as well twice named PPCO Photographer of the Year. Mike speaks regularly to fellow photographers to improve their skills, efficiency, and joy.
